Abstract Mary Kezia Bates was born at the Mount Silinda mission in Rhodesia in 1888. She was the daughter of African Missionaries Francis and Laura Bates. She came to America in 1904 and studied at Oberlin until completing her nurse’s training at Kansas University. In April 1914, Mary started on her journey to Durban, South Africa, where as nurse she is to join the staff of the Board's hospital under Dr. McCord. Abstract Samuel Wolcott was born to Elihu and Rachel McClintock Wolcott in South Windsor, Connecticut, on July 2, 1813. He graduated from Yale College in 1833 and Andover Theological Seminart in 1837. He would go on to be an assisstant secretary for the A.B.C.F.M. Samuel would be ordained on November 1st, 1839. This collection contains diaries (journals), extracts from sermons, readings, and letters from 1793-1835. Contained in 8 handmade books. One letter contains an essay entitled "On the Millenium" which mentions Jonathan Edwards. One journal is an arithmatic book attributed to "Sukey Counce Hunt." Also contains correspondence between the author's parents, Mary (Counce) Hunt and Daniel Hunt, which chronicles life in Boston during British occupation, and a diary of Mary Hunt's.
